THRUST BORING

Installing new water service

The CCS crew uses thrust boring equipment to install new water service under a road.  The equipment forces rods through the ground, creating the bore for the water service.  The water line is then run through the bore and connected to the water main on one end and the structure on the other.  Thrust Boring techniques were used in favor of disrupting traffic by digging up the road. Other services, such as fiber optic cables, are also installed by this method.
